2004 Aid Organization Promos
In 2003, a volunteer for Malteser raised funds by producing the 20054 Malteser Smurf promo (featured below). This was such a success, that he decided in early 2004 to produce more helping organization promo Smurfs, to raise money for Malteser. (The actual digital prototype images are reproduced below.) Working from these images, Schleich produced sample pieces, which were sent back to IMPS for approval on March 1, 2004. In April/May 2004, Schleich Germany injected and painted 5,000 pieces of each style in China. They were shipped in June 2004, and distribution began immediately. Peter donated half of each style to the aid organization represented. These were often given to children, for example, in ambulances. The remaining Smurfs were sold to raise funds for Malteser.
