2006 Halloween Smurfs Set
![]() In late 2005, Schleich (manufacturer of the Smurf figurines) announced that the 2006 Smurf set was going to be a themed set of "Halloween Smurfs!" We hope the focus on a largely U.S. holiday means something Smurfy is in store soon for the United States! (Of course, I.M.P.S. (licensor of the Smurfs) has already struck a three picture deal with Paramount Pictures for 2008 - the Smurfs' 50th anniversary!) This set was designed and mold-injected in Germany and hand painted in Tunisia (Tunisia is on the north tip of Africa, between Algeria and Libya). According to European Economic Community rules this allows the marking "Made in Germany," as the larger percentage of the product value was created in Germany. The quality on this set is very good, better than we saw from China not long ago! The figurines are marked "Schleich S Germany" since Schleich is in Germany. The "S" is in a circle, and is Schleich's logo. The figurines are marked "Made in Germany," as indicated above. They are marked "© 2005." The copyright date is always the year the mold is cut, usually one year before the figurine was officially available. "Peyo" (creator of the Smurfs) appears as always and there is a "CE" which is molded into every product coming from the European Community. Finally, we have the number of the cavity in the molding machine, which identifies which mold went bad when defective figurines start turning out. They have a "bracelet" sticker on them with "Schleich S" on one side and "CE" with barcode and Schleich # on the other side. The following are the Schleich #'s and a brief description of each figurine: 20541 Dracula Smurf - Wearing a black cape with red underside tied around the neck with a red bow. A black belt, cuffs and fangs complete the costume. 20542 Ghost Smurf - This smurf is wearing a sheet with a menacing look on his face, and dragging a ball and chain. 20543 Werewolf Smurf - Blue-furred Smurf wears torn shorts and has a long tail, sharp claws on his hands and feet, pointy ears and scary fangs! 20544 Mummy Smurf - A single blood-shot eye stares out from this Smurfs unraveling bandages as it reaches out from beyond the grave. 20545 Grim Reaper Smurf - This Smurf is wearing a dark costume with bones painted on it, and a black hooded cape. He is holding a scythe in his left hand. 20546 Frankenstein Smurf - This Smurf is sporting Frankenstein's high forhead, scars, torn clothing and bolts on his head! 20547 Witch Smurfette - Smurfette is wearing a black gown with pointy witches hat and is stirring a nasty-looking green brew in her cauldron. 20548 Pumpkinhead Smurf - This Smurf sports a Jack-o-Lantern for a head, and of course the ever-present Smurf hat is perched on top!
