I first discovered Smurfs on a visit to Provincetown, MA many years ago. A couple of shop keepers were using our little blue friends in display cases. I immediately knew I HAD to know what they were and where could I get them? I feverishly collected Smurfs for several years after that, then the collecting petered out as they became harder to find. I still have my collection, packed away safe and sound. I admit I hadn't given them much thought until I was in a shop many, many years later where I saw some for sale. This renewed my interest and I found this site; although I haven't bought any more Smurfs--yet. There are so many that have been released since my collecting days, I wouldn't know where to start. I have also been collecting other 'collectables', including Marvel Minimates and Hasbro's SuperHero Squad, so my love for small plastic people is still strong.
I have occasionally considered selling my collection, but I probably won't. They're just too cute to part with. However, I do have a couple of houses, and a windmill that I may be willing to sell. Except the windmill is not in mint condition, having been kept in a box for the last 20 years.
Don't hate me for not keeping it pristine, I'm lucky I was able to keep it at all.
So, there it is, my the history of my relationship with Smurfs.
Have a Smurfy day!
