This list has now topped 500 Smurfers and continues to grow steadily…if you’re new welcome! SMURFS ON TV OK, I *finally* set a date for the taping of the Smurf segment that will be appearing in an upcoming PAX TV episode of “Treasures in Your Home.” TIYH features everything from priceless antiques to quirky collections of pop culture items, expert appraisals, and more. I will be taping the Smurf segment in April but I don’t know when it will air yet, I will be sure to let this list know when I do! To find your local PAX station, just enter your ZIP code at http://www.pax.net/ (to learn more about TIYH, visit http://www.paxtv.com/treasures/.) NEW 2000 SMURF STUFF We are now taking orders on all the new 2000 Schleich Smurf items…figurines, Super Smurfs and the all-new Super Playsets. The Super Playsets are the first of an all-new series Schleich introduced that contains multiple Super Smurfs or Smurfs with the playsets! Schleich is also producing a large and small cotton tote bag featuring Smurf images which we have on order! We can’t wait to see these, and will surely be offering them for sale in addition to the hundreds of other Smurfy items you’ll find in the Smurf Shop at http://www.esmurfs.com/smurfshop.html! If you have not heard, it’s easier than ever to shop our site with our secure shopping cart system and you can pay with cash, check, money order, or Credit Card through our secure cart server. We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover and Novus. CONFUSING SMURFS We have just added a new page to eSmurfs.com! The Confusing Smurfs page at http://www.esmurfs.com/confusing.html stresses the importance of using Schleich #’s to identify figures when buying and trading through the mail “sight-unseen” and highlights some of the PVC’s that are easily mixed up. Oftentimes, one of the look-a-likes is considerably harder to find so learn and use the Schleich #’s! A free checklist of every regular production PVC including names and Schleich #’s can be printed from http://www.esmurfs.com/figureslist.html and thumbnail images are now included right on the list making it easier than ever to see which figures you still need "at-a-glance!" CHAT REMINDER Our site has stated in error that the Smurf chat is every Tuesday…sorry for the blunder! Chat is now every other Tuesday from 7:00 PM EST to “whenever” and meets again tomorrow, Tuesday 3/28/00 in the chat room located at http://www.esmurfs.com/chat.html. WISH LIST REQUEST We are aggressively buying all PVC items (particularly rare pieces) in an effort to eradicate our Wish List. It is our long-term goal to acquire sufficient stock in every piece so as to abolish the need for a Wish List altogether. If you have high quality pieces to sell or trade (doubles? Selling some off to raise cash?) let us know! We are especially interested in rare and hard to find pieces and are paying up to 80% of full retail for pieces we especially need to achieve full inventory. SMURF CARTOON TAPE Our Smurfy friend Phil from the THE CARTOON & TV SHOW CLOSET (http://gonow.to/cartoon80s) has some great Smurf tapes with both reruns from Cartoon Network and vintage NBC episodes complete with 80's era commercials! He has several tapes, each at least 2 hours long and all under $20! If you can't get your daily dose of Smurfs off Cartoon Channel like we do, or just don't have the time or patience to record it ever day but would like some episodes on tape…here is a great opportunity! I knew many of you would like to look into this and maybe even order. Tell him Pete from eSmurfs.com sent you! FREE SMURFS Remember, the offer always stands…to members of this mailing list ONLY! SMURF MUSEUM We am always trying to think of new content for the site and this newsletter…if you have a Smurfy (real-life) story to share, or an idea or information we can use, it is always welcome! One visitor suggested a Smurf Museum where the visitors donate the exhibits! Don’t worry, we are not trying to trick you into sending us any of your Smurfy stuff :o) Just pictures! A high-quality picture of your single rarest Smurf-related item for example. We’re thinking something unique here, things that 99% of people have never seen. Or maybe a shot of a really impressive or unusual Smurf Collection display or diorama? Been to Bullyland and got cool pics to share? If you think Smurfers would like to see it, send it in! Just e-mail (esmurfs@esmurfs.com) or snail mail (eSmurfs.com; 73-47 255th Street; Glen Oaks, NY 11004-1133) any images you wish to donate and give us as much info about the image as you can. If you’d like, we can identify you as the donor (include you real name, e-mail address, or other info) or it can be anonymous. The quality of the image is important. A larger digital image is better than a smaller image (we can always reduce it to suit the Museum, but we can’t make a small pic bigger!) And don’t worry about cropping, converting the file type or compressing the file size…we’ll do that. If you are sending a real photograph, it is most important that it be focused. We can enlarge the image when we scan it, so don’t make things blurry by trying to get too close to a small item. If course, the detail will be better if you are able to take a focused close-up, but don’t get close-up at the expense of clarity, we simply cannot use a fuzzy image! Images must be your intellectual property, meaning that you generated them. Please don’t send us pictures you lifted off the Internet! By sending the picture for inclusion, you are granting us permission to use the image for any reason. Photographs will not be returned. I think collectively, we can build a pretty neat page! So grab your cameras and get Smurfing!
