SMURFS CARTOON MOVES! Die-hard fans may have noticed the Smurfs are no longer showing on Cartoon Network at 12 Noon to 1:00 PM weekdays. They have moved the cartoon to 3:30 AM weekdays and only show 1/2 hour of cartoons until 4:00 AM. Looks to me like they are moving down the ladder in terms of favorable time slots…better learn to program those VCR's and don't be surprised if the cartoon is dropped entirely in the future…that's usually what happens to shows bumped to such a lousy time slot. Enjoy it while you can! E-MAIL PAPA SMURF I tried e-mailing Cartoon Network to learn what was happening once I saw the Smurfs cartoon had moved. I sent mail to smurfs@cartoonnetwork.com thinking that would be the address to write to with questions about the show, and would you believe Papa himself answered? Here is what he had to say: Hello Humans: I'm writing to you from the Smurf village. Things are Smurfing along quite nicely. There haven't been any quarrels or arguments in the Smurf family in quite some time, so it's easy for me to really Smurf on my work. Being a wizard is a Smurfy profession but it takes a great deal of practice. It's especially important to know what you're doing when you're Smurfing with a bad wizard such as Gargamel. I keep trying to tell Brainy that just because one Smurfs at being a wizard it does not necessarily make them a wizard. One must study, study, study and practice, practice, practice. - Papa Smurf Not the answer I was looking for, but it's still neat that someone is hosting a mailbox for him! If you'd like to give it a try, go ahead and send some e-mail to smurfs@cartoonnetwork.com and see what the Smurfs have been up to. SPENCER GIFTS In case you did not know this yet, Spencer Gifts is selling Smurfy merchandise in malls Country-wide! The word on the street is that the items are not selling well, and they will not be reordering. A manager for a local Spencer's knew nothing about it, and told me they are selling OK. They are selling a limited range of figurines on cards, plush dolls, notebooks, folders, pens, pencils, address books, keychains, sparkle stickers, bumper stickers and more. My favorite is the bumper sticker (featuring several normal Smurfs dancing with Papa and Smurfette) and I also bought a big Normal plush Smurf. Be sure to check it out! PLEASE EXCUSE THE MESS We are in the process of moving eSmurfs.com to larger quarters and there has been a few side-effects like slightly delayed shipping but be rest assured, this is best in the long run. We now have the room to spread out. We plan to stock more items all the time so you can expect us to have even more of what you are looking for when you are ready to buy. It is our goal to have the entire basic range of Smurf figurines in stock and ready to ship. Promos and color variations we expect to have a harder time keeping in stock, but we do hope to offer the full basic range of figurines at all times. CHAT REMINDER Chat is every other Tuesday from 7:00 PM EST to “whenever” and meets again tomorrow, Tuesday 4/11/00 in the chat room located at http://www.esmurfs.com/chat.html.
