How jealous we are of the collector's in Australia and elsewhere in the Southern hemisphere who are gearing up for Summer! Many of us will have our eye on that special Smurfy gift for themselves or another this holiday season. For those of you who shop online, remember to shop early and allow time for shipping! -Pete =-=-=-=-= CONTENTS =-=-=-=-= 1) NEW IN THE SMURF SHOP 2) NY SMURFER MAKES CUT FOR METRO TV 3) BOOMERANG MARATHON! 4) FROM THE MAILBAG 5) SMURFY NEWS GIVE-A-WAY 6) CLOSING =============================================== =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= 1) NEW IN THE SMURF SHOP =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= The following items were out of stock but were added back to the catalog this past month. Our Smurfy friend Andrew Somer submitted a home video of his collection, and the segment aired on Sunday, September 30th! We were very happy to see Andrew's fantastic and humorously displayed collection on TV and have captured the segment to Mpeg video so it can be viewed by Smurf lovers world-wide! You can view/download the video on eSmurfs.com: http://www.esmurfs.com/Andrew's%20Smurfs.mpg AOL Click Here! This link is not regularly available on eSmurfs.com, it is being shared with Smurfy News subscribers only! This show continues to encourage viewers to send in videos of their own collection, and they still use shots of Andrew's Smurf Village in the background when they post the address for viewers to send in their tapes! It was a thrill for all of us to see your collection Andrew, thank you again for sharing it with us! =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= 3) BOOMERANG MARATHON! =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= I am sorry I did not learn about this to report on it sooner, but the Cartoon Network spin-off channel "Boomerang" (found on DishTV, and other satelite and cable systems, check with your local provider) has aired/is airing a series of 24 hour Smurf marathons! The first marathon ran from 8AM EST Friday, October 19 to 8AM EST Saturday, October 20 and featured such classics as "The Smurfette" (the first appearance of Smurfette), "The Clockwork Smurf" (the first appearance of Clockwork Smurf) and "Once in a Blue Moon" (A stork delivers Baby to the village, first appearance of Baby Smurf). The second marathon ran from 8AM EST Friday, October 26 to 8AM EST Saturday, October 27 and featured such classics as "Jokey's Shadow" (Jokey's Shadow comes to life) and "Don Smurfo" (Jokey's masquerade as Smurfette's storybook hero Don Smurfo puts him at risk when he has to confront Azrael to prove himself). The third and final marathon runs from 8AM EST Friday, November 2 to 8AM EST Saturday, November 3 and will feature classics such as "Puppy" (first appearance of Puppy; Homnibus' magical puppy who arrives in the village with a magic locket only Baby can open) and "The Smurflings" (Nat, Snappy, and Slouchy get a second childhood with the help of Father Time, this is the first appearance of the boy Smurflings). Each 24 hour marathon is actually the same 8 hour segment shown three times in a row. Still, the combined marathons featured 70 of the 420 episodes produced for TV. If any of my readers ever learn that the Smurfs are going to be shown on TV, please do not assume I know! I usually don't, unless someone tells me! I can only share the info with Smurfy News readers if I have enough notice! So, fire up those VCR's! November 2nd's marathon starts at 8AM EST and runs through to 4PM EST. The same 8 hour segment will air again from 4PM EST to 12 midnight EST, and the final segment will run from 12 midnight EST to 8AM EST the following morning. Please note these are Eastern US Coast times, please check your local listings! Remember, a complete list of every Smurf episode ever produced can be found in the Cartoon Episode Guide at eSmurfs.com, on the "Smurfs on TV" page: http://www.esmurfs.com/smurfs-tv.html#guide AOL Click Here! =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- 4) FROM THE MAILBAG =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Maybe you remember me.
