It deals with Smurfette and others trying to find some kind of potion to save a poisoned mermaid." --- I think you mean episode 107 from the 1983-84 season; "Handy's Sweetheart," where Handy falls in love with a mermaid named "Marina" seeking help for her ailing father. Marina appears again in episode 268 from the 1986-87 season; "No Smurf is an Island," where Handy designs a submarine so that he could visit Marina. A wonderful area for cruising and happy times now long past. I always returned home with a handful of Smurfs bought from local shops for just a few cents to save and give to my grandchildren. Unfortunately grandchildren never came along so the smurfs ended up in a box under the stairs. Recently I met an enthusiastic collector at a party (he was 14 and I am 65) and people must have wondered what we were so deeply in conversation about. Later I dug out my smurf box and to my surprise found I had over 300 including about 12 duplicates (which I would be happy to swap.) Having found your web site I purchased the Schlumpf 2000 catalogue and have been naming and pricing my 'collection' over Christmas.
