2) KMS CATALOG ARRIVES!
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
The latest Smurf ID & Price guide has completed it's ocean voyage and is here in America for eSmurfs members! This guide not only reflects the very latest European pricing for Figurines (2002/2003), it also shows more color variations than any other guide in print, and is nearly twice the thickness of the last edition published by KMS!
We all know Smurf collecting is a world-wide phenomenon and the Internet has blown the door wide open to International trading with our fellow Smurfy friends all over the world. If you deal with International Smurfers, it is important that you know how Smurfs are valued elsewhere. American Collectors: Do you know many of our "common" American pieces are prized by Europeans? Don't trade foolishly, know what pieces are of special interest to them, and trade smart!
With the KMS guide, you will learn that some pieces which are difficult for us to find are rather common in Europe, and vice versa!!
SHIPPING HEAVY BOOKS FROM GERMANY IS EXPENSIVE! I ordered a limited quantity, and I do not know that it will pay to reorder once my small supply is gone, so do not wait too long to place your order! It will be available only while quantities last!

4) SMURF LIBRARY GROWING
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Several new articles have been added to the Smurf Library at eSmurfs.com. So far, all of the articles are from past issues of the Smurfy News. NEW READERS, this is your chance to catch up on some of the great newsletter content you missed!
In the future, all Smurfy News articles will be archived there.
A BIG THANK YOU TO SUZANNE LIPSCHITZ!! Suzanne has granted us access to the SCCI (Smurf Collectors Club International) archive of articles and clippings her members submitted through the years. These articles will be reprinted in future issues of the Smurfy News and archived in the Library for Smurf historians to enjoy!
I also welcome submissions from every Smurfy person with information to share. Suzanne taught the SCCI members that "SHARING IS CARING" and eSmurfs' success is born of that philosophy - If we share what we know, we all benefit! 6) FROM THE MAILBAG

"Dear Pete, Great site and I'm wondering if you can help me. I'm looking for the title of a specific smurf episode and wonding if you can help me or direct me to someone who can. It deals with Smurfette and others trying to find some kind of potion to save a poisoned mermaid."
---
I think you mean episode 107 from the 1983-84 season; "Handy's Sweetheart," where Handy falls in love with a mermaid named "Marina" seeking help for her ailing father. Marina appears again in episode 268 from the 1986-87 season; "No Smurf is an Island," where Handy designs a submarine so that he could visit Marina.
For answers to questions regarding the cartoon episodes, use your browser's "find" feature (under the "Edit" pull-down menu in Internet Explorer) to search the Cartoon Episode Guide at eSmurfs.com. I found your answer by looking for "mermaid." Here's the link:

"Dear Pete, In the 70's and 80's I holidayed many times in Holland, sailing my boat across from the UK. A wonderful area for cruising and happy times now long past. I always returned home with a handful of Smurfs bought from local shops for just a few cents to save and give to my grandchildren. Unfortunately grandchildren never came along so the smurfs ended up in a box under the stairs. Recently I met an enthusiastic collector at a party (he was 14 and I am 65) and people must have wondered what we were so deeply in conversation about. Later I dug out my smurf box and to my surprise found I had over 300 including about 12 duplicates (which I would be happy to swap.) Having found your web site I purchased the Schlumpf 2000 catalogue and have been naming and pricing my 'collection' over Christmas. My wife has decided I've got 'old-timer's disease but I'm having fun so who cares! Best regards and Happy New Year! Len. P.S. As a regular visitor to McDonalds there is no sign of a new Smurf promotion here.
---
Len, believe me, it's not just kids collecting Smurfs today! The most serious collector's (of course) are all "grown-ups!" Thanks for sharing your story and McDonald's report!
