MARKINGS COLLECTORS: We plan to discontinue listing markings for our Smurfs, please take advantage of our current sale to pick up the pieces you need while the markings are still reflected in our database.  We regret that we had to make this decision, citing markings is very cumbersome and we don't have the manpower to continue doing it.

 SMURFS DVD NEWS

DEAR MUSHROOMVILLAGE - Hi.  I am finding brand new Smurf movies of some seasons and also a couple that have over 300 shows of the Smurfs.  These are DVDs and are brand new.  How are these people getting them?  I would love all 500 shows and the extras - when do you think they will release a set or have they been released? Signed, a big fan, Stephanie Rupe, Maryester Florida.

PETE REPLIES: These DVD's are all over eBay, BUT THEY ARE NOT OFFICIAL, LICENSED DVD's!!  I ordered some to check them out, and they do not contain as many episodes as they claim and are actually very low quality, home-made DVD's made from VHS recordings.  I urge MushroomVillage.com members NOT to buy these unofficial, illegal, incomplete and overpriced DVD's!

In early June Warner Bros (who currently holds the DVD rights in the US) joined a chat hosted by the Home Theater Forum to talk about their products, and answer questions from HTF members.  Paul Miller asked about a few cartoon, and got a positive response for The Smurfs:

<PaulMiller> As a fan of 80s cartoons, is there any chance of The Smurfs, Pac Man, or the Plastic Man Comedy Adventure Hour coming to DVD anytime soon?

<WARNER> We are working on The Smurfs and hope to release it in 2007.  We'll look into Pac Man and Plastic Man, Thanks for the suggestions.

So, Warner Brothers is planning on releasing the Smurfs on DVD in 2007, and the movie will be released during their 50th Anniversary in 2008.  We will see Smurfs pop up here, there and everywhere as we approach the big five-O.  I.M.P.S. (Smurfs copyright holders) was in attendance at the 2006 NYC Intl. Licensing Fair licensing Smurfs for upcoming US products.  I will also attend Toy Fair 2007, where I hope to preview Smurfy new toys.  Stay tuned to MushroomVillage.com for the latest Smurfy info!
