Hey! I'm finally answering my own survey! I'm throwing in photos, too!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 1. Do you remember what your first Smurf puchase was? If so, what was it? I was a small child. From my childhood, I still had: 2 Smurfy Tooth pillows (homemade-the back had a spot to put your tooth in - one was my sister's), a stuffed Smurfette, and Smurfette on Rollerskates, and Puppy on Skateboard. My husband remembers buying them at our "Off-Price Mall" at, what he calls, a Smurf Store. 2. When did you begin collecting Smurfs as a hobby? 1997. Took all my husband's PVC's & paired them with what I had left. Started finding & buying the glasses, bought a new t-shirt (Teeter-Totter) at a toy store, and from then on, it was love. 3. How old were you when you bought your first Smurf/and when you began collecting? I was very small, but I remember playing with the Tooth Pillows when I was 3. I was 16/17 when I began collecting. 4. Do you have a favorite Smurfy item? I could never play favorites. But my husband thinks my 1982 Christmas plate & mug are my favorites b/c I pay special attention to them. 5. What’s your oddest Smurf item? That would be my Papa Smurf Eau De Toilet Cologne. My aunt & uncle sent it to me, box & all, from a flea market in Miami. It doesn't smell that bad! 6. How many PVCs do you have? I have a spreadsheet somewhere...I think it's 200. 7. How many total Smurf items do you have? About 350 or so. 8. How are your Smurfs displayed? I've shared many photos & videos. They're on black bracket shelves my husband put up for me last summer. And they have their own room. 9. Does anyone else in your family collect smurfs? Nope. 10. Do you collect any other toys? I love PVC's & I love 80's toys. I try to keep it to smurfs, since I've run out of room in the apartment we used to live in. But I collect Dr. Seuss, 80s toys, Snorks, & a few other things. He collects CA Raisins. 11. What was the LAST Smurf item you bought? I can't remember, fully, but I think it was this Smurfette backpack. 12. What’s the best-priced (best deal) you got on a Smurf? Graduation Smurf for $0.10 at a flea market. Sold him, 4 years ago, for $75. (Had bills to pay). Anyone have an extra? 13. What’s the MOST you paid for one smurf? That wouldn't be much on the PVC's. Probably $40 for the Smurf metal shelf I have. 14. Do you know how Smurfette originated? Yup! I have that episode recorded, too. 15. Do you like the cartoon as much as the toys? yes. When will they put it on DVD for USA?? They have Fraggles, but no smurfs! 16. Which, if any, Smurfs have you won in Pete’s great contests, or other contests? A while ago, I won this GREAT jack-in-the-box Smurf from the newsletter contest. I'd never be able to buy him otherwise, so I was thrilled! Several months ago, I won the Abe Lincoln (possible my husband's newest fave), an older Sassette & an older Peewit (cool version) that I didn't have!! YAY!! 17. Have you given other people Smurfs as gifts? I've given the Bride & Groom set to people getting married. 18. Do you often receive Smurfs as gifts, or do you have to buy them all yourself? I did get the Papa Cologne for Christmas. My husband bought me an alarm clock when I had my tonsils out. My parents managed to get me a smurf I didn't have (computer smurf) in my Christmas stocking a couple years ago. But that's it. The rest I have to buy myself b/c you can't find them anywhere, and no one ever knows which ones I don't have. 19. Do you wear Smurfs/Smurfy items? I have a t-shirt with a Smrfette patch on the front that I like to wear to flea markets or yard sales...many times sellers will see my shirt & go "OH! I have some smurfs...hang on..." it's great. I also have necklace charms, and a sock cap. The teeter-tooter shirt I have stays on display. 20. If there had been a Smurfs Finale episode, how do you think it would’ve ended? Smurfette would've buckled down & married....Hefty. Vanity would've come out. Sasette & Nat would've started dating. Papa would've told everyone he was leaving to see the rest of the world...they could finally get along without him. Gargamel would've seen the light & stop chasing them. 21. Why do you even collect Smurfs? They make me SO HAPPY. They're blue, cute, what's more to love? 22. Would you give up every Smurf for a big price? For the best of my family, yes. But that wouldn't stop me from continuing to buy more.
