Post Fake #1 Grad Smurf

Hey All - I got one of these off eBay on purpose just so I would have one for reference and so I could make a reference page about it on my site - check it out here - Fake #1Grad Smurf Gary

Re: Fake #1 Grad Smurf

Nice one Gary and very helpful for new collectors who should know the difference when it comes to buying these rarer smurfs.

I was planning on doing the same sort of thing on my site when I get up to that Schleich number. I think it's great that people will be able to use that page as a reference in the future.

Just a thought though...isn't there a difference with the index finger on the authentic compared to the fake? I'm not 100% sure and I don't have mine in front of me at the moment to check yet but I thought there might of been something different in that area.

Hey Andrew - I had never noticed that but you are right!! The index finger on the right hand is longer than on the real version!! I will add that to the page. Thanks Gary

How on earth... what trained eyes you two must have! I never in a million years would've noticed those things. I once had a #1 Grad, but I sold it for $75 b/c we needed money. I hope it wasn't a fake! (**ponders on how many fakes may have found their way into her collection...and stops worrying b/c they're just as fun as the real ones! ** )

I agree that the fakes are fun to collect as well April and I am sorry to hear that you evicted your poor #1 Grad. If you ever want to get either a real or a fake one then I know a really good seller int he US that can help you the same way he has helped me.

Trained eyes???.....I think they are blue after all

Re: Fake #1 Grad Smurf

Yes, soon I will have to replace him. You know, I only paid $0.15 for him and sold him for $75.00! It's the only one I've ever sold, but $75 can buy a lot more smurfs for someone whose collection is smaller than others! (however, at the time we simply needed the money for other things...)

I will have to start looking for him...right after I find Hefty (with the tatoo). I still don't have him & have looked forever!
