On April 29, "SNL" will devote an entire episode to the best of Mr. Smigel's "Saturday TV Funhouse" shorts, a 90-minute compilation of obscure Hanna-Barbera parodies, send-ups of contemporary politicians, and reality television stars drawn to look like Smurfs. And while the evening's honoree is grateful for the distinction, he is also busy determining the lineup for his own tribute show, and perpetually reminded of the intense anxiety that comes with the responsibility of filling in a blank canvas.
